The Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner
Despite showing up a bit late to the rehearsal everything went splendidly. We walked through the ceremony a few times and discussed how we were going to decorate the bathhouse. My mom was the only one crying…everyone else seemed to really be getting into the wedding spirit. Andy and I appreciated just how much everyone was willing to help. After a little bit, we headed to Stellars Pizza for the dinner where I got to meet some of Andy’s family for the first time. Dinner was so much fun. Everyone enjoys pizza and cupcakes so you really can’t go wrong. There was a ton of laughing and reminiscing and again, it was exactly what Andy and I were hoping for.
Night Before the Wedding
Andy’s brother and sister in law (mine too now) threw a party for all the out of town relatives, and while I wasn’t there, I am assured that it was a great time. I was at my sister’s place finishing up the wedding programs and having a girly movie night. Steph’s husband wasn’t feeling that well, so he tagged a long for girl night, but I don’t think he minded that much. We watched a couple movies and talked for a bit, but then we kicked everyone out because we all had an early morning the next day. I didn’t get any sleep that night. I haven’t felt that excited for something since Christmas Day when I was younger.
The Wedding Day (Morning)
I was worried that I was going to be stressed out, but I wasn’t at all. I got up early to get my hair done by my cousin-in-law Shelly (she did an amazing job) and to have a few quiet moments with my sister before the day exploded into family, photos, and food. I ate some breakfast and then I went and got my make-up done at the Bobbi Brown counter at Nordstrom’s. The poor woman who did my make-up was very busy and up to her eyeballs in customers, but Kate and I weren’t in any rush so we just went with the flow and enjoyed ourselves. When my make-up was done Kate and I jumped in the car and headed for the bathhouse and proceeded to get stuck in horrible traffic. Looking back now, I think this was one of the best things that could have happened. Kate was driving and worrying about getting there so I just stared out the window and thought about the wedding. It took us over an hour to get to Ballard, but it didn’t matter because I knew the wedding couldn’t start without me.
When I finally got to the bathhouse I was greeted by all my friends who had shown up to help decorate. I still can’t get over the love and happiness that I was surrounded with that day. I honestly have the best friends and family a person could ask for. And Oh My God! They did such a WONDERFUL job decorating the bathhouse. It was beautiful.
The Wedding Day (Ceremony & Reception)
I didn’t cry at my wedding. I thought I was going to and I even started a tiny bit. But then I felt the strength from all my friends and family and all of sudden I was too happy to cry. I wanted to celebrate all the love that was in the room.
Honestly, the rest is a blur. I never understood how people could say that they barely remembered their wedding, but now I know. I mostly remember not being able to stop smiling, wanting to hug and talk to everyone, and just have a fun time. Looking around the room and seeing it packed with people who I loved and cared for…what could be better than that?
