Okay, so I just had a conversation with Andy that 1) I never in a million years imagined having with him and 2) never in a million years thought it would come up while I was at work. So...
Andy had his consultatin visit with the radiologist today and the topic of babies came up. Now keep in mind, Andy and I are in NO RUSH to have them, but we have heard that radiation does have some affect on sperm. The doctor said it was a good idea for Andy to contact a sperm bank and "make a deposit." Being the practical person I am, my first question was "is this covered by insurance?" Andy is finding out the answer as we speak, but my guess is that it isn't covered by insurance which means the awkwardness is going to continue when we have to go to our parents and ask them for help in covering the cost of their future potential grandchildren.
Oh life!

I don't know how much the initial deposit costs - but I think it's around $100 a year to store it after that. Thankfully, after he finishes radiation, you can have his sperm tested to see if has the right count of different things. And if it passes, then you don't have to store the sperm anymore.
Oh the things you learn.
