I love autumn. That is why I chose to get married in October. It is by far my favorite season.
During the summer the warmth can feel oppressive (especially when it is over 100 degrees!). And while I do enjoy the longer days, it does throw of the internal clock a bit to be going to sleep at 10 pm when the sun is just finished setting. During the fall, it can be warm but the sun seems more friendly, like a grandmother’s hug. It warms you up gently and puts a smile on your face.
It can be cold during the fall too, but not the same way the winter can be cold. During the winter, I can get so cold waiting for the bus that I hurt. Winter cold seems to be punishing you for venturing outside. Autumn cold is crisp and refreshing, like apple cider (a perfect fall drink).
This season also makes me think of soups and fires in the fireplace. Of corn mazes and carving pumpkins with silly faces. Soon it will remind me of being surrounded by everyone that means something to me while I get married to the man I love. It is the perfect time to start playing board games, baking pumpkin bread, and putting together that puzzle that is gathering dust in your closet.
I do appreciate the other seasons as well, but Autumn will also hold a special place in my heart.
