End to Uppsala: Start to Stockholm
In about 2 hours I am leaving the college town of Uppsala Sweden for the busy town of Stockholm. After a few bumps in the road, I ended up really enjoying my time in Uppsala.
Uppsala is an old town, the college itself was founded in 1477. 1477! That is amazing to me. The other thing I have been amazed by is the historical knowledge all (at least all I have talked to) Swedes have. They remember what some war fought in 1537 was about and what the outcome was. I don't even know if I could name all of the wars the US has been apart of, much less tell you the outcomes.
Towards the end of the trip I really began to feel like I knew my way around this town. I became more comfortable being on my own and exploring things. Don't get me wrong, it is much easier to explore things when you have someone to do it with (excited to meet up with my sister in 5 hours) but I have enjoyed being on my own. However, I am a little nervous about riding the train to Stockholm and finding my hotel by myself.
This trip has been good for me. I started it feeling like I had no connection to the group of students I was travelling with. At the beginning of the trip I felt really lonely and homesick. But here at the end of the trip and has cliche as it sounds, I have made some new friends. Last night after our last dinner, I was sad to know that I wouldn't be seeing most of them for some time.
